We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

Having just completed an English Channel relay swim, I am now going solo!

In August 2012, I will attempt the Everest of all swims on my own.

What's it all about?

The Distance

Anything from 21 miles plus

The Cold

Should be around 16 Degrees or less

The Water

One of the busiest shipping lanes in the World, Pollution, Shoals of Jelly Fish, Blankets of seaweed amongst other things....

The Rules

One Swimsuit, One Swim Hat, Goggles and shear determination.

WHY?

My chosen charity is The Rifles "Care For Casualties". My husband Sjt Andre Zwijnen is currently serving with 4 Rifles and has done several operational tours of Iraq & Afghanistan. During these tours he has had friends who have died and friends who have been seriously injured.

The Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severely wounded, their families and families of the fallen of The Rifles the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures.

As the wife of a soldier and an ex-soldier myself it is very important to me that they all get the help they deserve.

This page is set up in memory of Tom Keogh, who was killed in action 7th March 2010. He was a close friend of my husband and on the times that i met him, he was a pure gent and had a larger than life character.
