At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Welcome to my fundraising page and thanks for visiting.

As well as Racing for Life I’ve also decided to do something more challenging to give you even more reason to help me raise money, therefore in June 2007 I'm going to spend 4 day's cycling from London to Paris - nearly 300 miles (or 440 Km) in four days.

If you know me, then you’ll know how passionate I feel about Cancer support charities, so this year I’ve chosen the only UK children’s cancer charity who can offer round the clock care and support, helping children, young people, and their families in this great time of need.

Please help me reach my target of £2000.

Did you know?
Every day 10 families are told their child has cancer.

7 out of 10 children now survive cancer and need your help to provide clinical, emotional, psychological, social and financial services in hospital, at home and in the community with CLIC Sargent .

Drugs given to child cancer patients are simply reduced doses of adult cancer drugs. Though they are effective, they can cause severe side effects as well as ongoing health problems for survivors. CLIC Sargent research looks at ways of improving treatment and managing side effects, taking science to the bedside.

Why help me raise the money? With greater survival rates, it’s vital that we support life with, and beyond Cancer

£280 - will accommodate a family at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for 10 days. Here they can stay together within walking distance of the hospital where their child is being treated, which is often many miles from their own home.

£450 - funds a CLIC Sargent Family Support Worker for a week. When a sick child is in hospital they help at home, pick up siblings from school, organise activities and keep everyday life as ‘normal’ as possible.

£720 - will fund a CLIC Sargent Social Worker for one week. They help the whole family understand and to face up to what’s happening, offering emotional and practical support needed at a difficult time.

£2000 - will fund a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist for one month. They use toys and photos to explain to children what will happen during treatment and overcome their fears. If a child is calm, treatment can be easier and more effective too.

Don’t wait, sponsor me NOW. In order to participate in this challenge I must raise over £1100, 80% (£880) must be received by CLIC Sargent before 21st March 2007.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CLIC Sargent will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks Muchly
