Great North Run 2010 · 19 September 2010 ·

Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. The charity now feeds more than three million children every school day and it costs just £19.15/€22.00 to feed a child for a year.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mary's Meals helps children by providing one good meal a day, prepared by a rosta of parents, at school. This encourages the children to come to school, removes the need for them to spend all day scavenging for food and helps learning by banishing hunger.

Mary’s Meals currently provides daily meals in school for over 391,000 children in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Mary's Meals also runs the "Backpack project", providing children with the basic necessities for day-to-day living and learning. It also carries out building projects to add kitchens to schools.

Each new kitchen costs £7,000 and I am looking for your help to raise this amount of money in 2010 to provide a new school kitchen. Both I and Planning for Life will be doing a number of different activities to raise money throughout the year, including competing in the Great North Run on 19 September.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
