Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Later this year (October / November) my friend Dan and I will be trekking from Lukla to Basecamp of Mount Everest (That’s right, a 20st. man walking for 11 days up to altitudes of 5500m). On a selfish level I set myself this challenge to prove to myself I can do it, but, that is no excuse to miss out on the opportunity to raise money for a worthy charity.
I am going to do this trek to support the charity - Depression Alliance. Whilst this is not something I have personally have, I have seen friends and family suffer from the illness and have seen how much it can affect people, and those around them.
There are many ways the Depression Alliance can help, even with assisting people in realising they suffer from the problem in the first place. Scarily, it is suggested that at least one in five people suffer from depression during their lifetime, so the chances are you already know someone who has been affected.
Please take some time to sponsor me on this trek to help with support and awareness of depression, even if you are just making a bet on whether you think I’ll make it! I promise to bring back photos of the trip and I'm sure Dan will get some photos of me in all sorts of agony. To really put this in context...it'll be at least 11 days without any alcohol! For those who know Dan...that has got to be worth some sponsorship!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Depression Alliance gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
