Story
For 2 weeks in September 2007 we will be cycling the length and heights of the Pyrenees to raise sponsorship for a number of worthy causes.
This trip will take us nearly 600 miles, and we will be climbing at least twice the height of Everest, so it will be quite a physical challenge, especially for a group of men with an average age of over 40!! Our route will take in many of the climbs made famous by the Tour de France, including the Col de Tourmalet (2115m), Col d'Aubisque (1709m) and the Col d'Aspin (1489).
Jeremy Rushton, age 43, is a self-employed Geologist with a long-held enthusiasm for cycling, having cycled as his main form of transport for most of his life. A veteran of many cycle adventures, he says this may well be his toughest yet!
Why the Pyrenees?
Well, back in 2004 another group was facing the final day of their successful Land's End to John O'Groats cycle when someone asked "what shall we do next?". After a moments hesitation Jeremy said "well, I had this plan to cycle the Pyrennees back in 1986 ....".
Some of that team can be found in this team ...
Why I Can?
Jeremy has chosen the I Can charity as his main target for sponsorship. I Can is the children's communication charity, which works to foster the development of speech, language and communication skills in all children with a special focus on those who find this hard: children with a communication disability. This charity is close to Jeremy's heart as his eldest child has a learning delay which lead to communication problems. Having seen the benefits of therapy for such children, Jeremy is keen to support I CAN's work to help more children benefit from specialist intervention at an early stage.
Other Charities
Other charities are being supported by the other team members, including:
The British Heart Foundation
The British Kidney Patients Association
The Prince's Trust
CATCH
If you would rather sponsor one of these other charities you can follow the links on our event home page:

This also contains lots of info on the riders, our training and on the route itself.
Thank You!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: I CAN will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
