Ummah Welfare Trust was founded to challenge the huge poverty and injustice prevalent in the Ummah today. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity strives to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.

Story

Girls and guys, I hope you are all well. 2 weeks tomorrow (Saturday 28th February) a group of us plan to do a sponsored walk for the length of the Northern Line (High Barnet to Morden) for the ‘Gaza Crisis Appeal’.

The appeal was launched by the Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) in December 2008 to raise money for the victims in Gaza. UWT is a UK registered international relief and development charity. Established in 2001, UWT operates in over twenty countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Unlike many other charities, UWT is transparent and accountable and has a full audit trail from the donor to the beneficiary. UWT is fully committed to a 100% donations policy. There are no deductions for administration or fundraising purposes. (www.uwt.org)

AA route planner estimates the route at 22.5 miles and I predict the journey will take 11 hours. Photos/video will be used to validate the walk which will begin at 6am.

The walk is by no means politically driven, but simply an attempt to raise money for the Palestinian people with the support of our family/friends/peers. So, if any of you can sponsor us for a few pounds it would be greatly appreciated, I understand that with the economic situation as it is, we are all watching our pennies so please do not feel obligated.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: UWT gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Cheers.
