All great conversations start with "let's go for a pint", and so this one did and before long, like most of the guys doing this challenge it was agreed to in the wee hours of the morning before realising the reality of the situation in the haze of a hangover!

Most of you know that I am one of these seafarers and spent 1/2 the year floating around the Indian Ocean with Farstad shipping on a supply vessel. I have had the privilege of seeing some amazing and exotic places onboard ships but I've also seen the poor conditions and exploitation that other shipping companies impose on their seafarer employees. Over 90% of what you own or eat has spent a part of its journey onboard ship before reaching your doorsteps and it is a service many take for granted. The Mission to Seafarers helps those seafarers who have either met with difficulties or are the most vulnerable by providing them with the necessary aid and support at their times of need.
