Hike for Health · 13 May 2009

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Hi there,

Here's a little bit about me, my name is Jess, I'm 17 and currently doing my A2's. Next year I'm going to Coventry University to study Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (Starting up my own business).

So, Hike for Health, "what is it?"

Well I'm glad you asked, two friends (Joe, 17 and Chizzy, 18) and I are hiking to Oxford from Chadlington (around 20 miles) on Sunday 17th May starting at 6am.

"Just walking 20 miles?.. You must be buff  but that’s not very interesting."

You are right my friend, it's not. So to spice it up a little bit we are wearing bright tutus with 'Beat it!' written across our stomachs in rave paint.

"Tutus and rave paint? No way! You're going to look ridiculous; but I understand why. You are making a statement about being proud of your bodies and to not worry about what 'everyone else' thinks. Well done, that's very commendable; hopefully you will inspire others to abolish their irrational insecurities."

Thanks I'm happy you understand, and if you have any more questions or queries please drop me an e-mail at jessbabes@hotmail.co.uk

Well, I'm glad we had this chat.
