Having successfully completed the Great London Swim 2010 in 34 minutes 27 seconds my aim for 2011 was to break 30 minutes.....
But, circimstances got the better of me and I was kept out of the water from August 2010 - June 2011, so the challenge for this year is to complete the swim in as close to 34 minutes as possible!!!
As many of you know, I am a keen SCUBA diver and believe that the protection and preservation of our ocean eco-systems is essential; in particular those graceful and beautiful predators of the deep, sharks, millions of which are brutally killed each year for their fins alone.
This affects not only the sharks and the, some would say 'crazy', folks like me who like who seek them out as swimming buddies during their summer holidays, but has a devastating effect on the health of our oceans and ultimatley our planet.
So, this year I have decided to raise money for the Shark and Coral Conservation Trust, a charity dedicated to "the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of sharks and coral reef eco-systems and marine biological diversity."
