Bristol Dragon Boats 2009 · 27 September 2009 ·

Jessie May provides nursing care at home for children with a terminal illness in the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas. The charity relies on voluntary contributions to fund its service.

Story

Well done to the amazing Jessie May pirates for their oar'some display in the Dragon Boat Race on Sunday. The team qualified for the semi finals with the fourth fastest time amongst the 15 competitors. The pirates were then sadly knocked out in a head to head race against the race favourites, AirBus. There was just a dragon's nose between them!

Thanks to all that took part, everyone that came down on the day and cheered the team on, and those that sponsored the pirates. Nearly £2,000 raised from this event for The Jessie May Trust already!!

All the money we raise in this fantastic event will go towards The Jessie May Trust. It costs the charity £500,000 a year to fund their 'hospice at home' service, and to provide ongoing bereavement support to local families after sadly losing a child.
