'Village Education Project (Kilimanjaro)' works with local communities to build, renovate and assist government primary schools in the Mount Kilimanjaro region. The project aims to provide children with the education they need to become self-supporting citizens, and has recently received approval from the Tanzanian government to embark on a long-term programme of school and teacher development.

Village Education Project Kilimanjaro is special to us because Jez spent his gap year (one of them anyway!) teaching in primary schools in Mshiri village, Tanzania, for this charity, whilst Alice also spent several weeks in the village. The charity is a small project with a large impact on the community it serves. Donations received are put to good use - providing books and desks for students, supplying resources for teachers and sending children on school trips, among other things.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Village Education Project Kilimanjaro will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra amount of tax refund will be added to your gift at no cost to you (Gift Aid).
