Jiffy's East Coast Bike Challenge

East Coast Bike Challenge · 8 September 2014 to 15 September 2014 ·
Jonathan Davies MBE has been involved with Velindre Cancer Centre for over 6 years, firstly as a Patron and for the last 5 years as President. His contribution has been truly remarkable, overseeing and driving massive expansion in terms of Velindre’s fundraising income and profile. Over £10 million pounds has been raised and Jonathan has helped launch many appeals and campaigns, and his annual golf day is a very popular fixture on the golfing calendar.
Last September Jonathan led the Velindre Captains California Bike Ride with over 50 cyclists including Martyn Williams, Tom Shanklin, Rhys Williams, Mike Hall and Andy Moore, as they completed a gruelling journey from Yosemite to San Francisco.
“People don't appreciate the work Velindre does until the unfortunate time comes and you need it, then you realise how good a place it is and how hard people work there. They are amazing."
Now Jonathan has decided to don his cycling shorts again for a new adventure. The East Coast Bike Challenge will see participants cycle from 515km in 5 days from Boston to New York in September next year.
Jonathan said “The California Bike Ride was supposed to be a one off; I was celebrating a special birthday and wanted to use the occasion to raise funds for Velindre, where I’m President. I lead the bike ride along with and Martyn Williams and Mike Hall, and we ended up with over 50 riders. The whole event was an absolutely fantastic experience, very tough cycling but with great company and most importantly of all we raised an enormous sum for Velindre.
So when I saw this new itinerary for the Boston New York Ride it looked so good that I thought – why not?!”
Thank you for your support.
