Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Earlier on this year I received a phone call from my Mum in London saying she no longer had a home, nowhere to go and no money. I purchased her a bus ticket to Oxford and she arrived very weak, thin and traumatised. I took her home to stay with me where she stayed for some days while I looked after her, making her food etc as she was unable to do these things herself. Unfortunately, I live in accomodation where it would have been impossible for my mum to stay for a long period of time and after seeking lots of advice we finally realised she would have to stay at the night shelter. I was impressed by the facilities provided by the night shelter and their concern over the people staying there as well as people trying to access accomodation. They did their best to find my mum a room of her own and make her feel comfortable. We worked closely with the shelter over the months she was staying there and they were so helpful, kind and understanding in trying to get my mum back on her feet, as were the homeless people staying there who are some of the kindest people I have ever met and looked after my mum incredibly well.
The Oxford night shelter does so much to help homeless people (not only shelter but food, activities, literacy and numeracy classes, help to sort out financial situations etc) and helped my mum at one of the lowest times in her life. I am determined to try and give something back and help raise money to aid them in all the great work they do. I would like to ask you all for a donation if you can spare it for such a great, life-changing cause. I don't know how we would have got through that time if it were not for the help of the Night shelter.
Thank you,
Jij and Rouse
