I am running my first marathon in aid of the Prospect Hospice and Maria Peach.
The money will assist in supporting the wealth of services that the Hospice offers in the local community free of charge. This includes a young carers group for children who assist in caring for their terminally ill parents/siblings, and hospice care at home.
The significance of this is that a work colleagues sister, Maria Lisa Peach, is 47 and terminally ill. She has a husband, an 8 year old son and two daughters.
Any additional funds raised will go towards buying a mobility scooter which would allow Maria some independence again as she is currently totally house-bound. This scooter will allow Maria to pick her son up from school and lead as normal a life as possible. These donations can be made separately on a sponsorship form. Beachy Head Marathon, as well as being 26.2 miles long, is generally thought to be the most demanding on British soil due to the varying elevation. Give me the boost I will need and donate what you can to help get me over those hills!
