Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I am, along with around 40 family members, friends and work colleagues, doing a charity walk this summer in order to raise money for the Stroke Association. Our support of The Stroke Association is in memory of my father, Jim Dewhirst, who died suddenly in December 2008, following a severe stroke.

On Saturday June 20th we will be tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Walk. The walk is 25 miles long and incorporates the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire, which are all around 700m high.

In the UK an estimated 150,000 people have a stroke every year, and around 250,000 live with severe disability caused by a stroke.

The Stroke Association funds research covering stroke prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, as well as training for doctors and nurses who specialise in stroke care.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. Also, if you are a UK taxpayer Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
