Story

A Tribute to Jimmy Masewa Banda

Jimmy was RIPPLE Africa’s beloved Pre-schools Coordinator. He was one of the kindest and most genuine people we have ever met, and touched the hearts of hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Jimmy’s positivity and enthusiasm were infectious, and he was loved not only by the hundreds of children and RIPPLE Africa staff he worked with every day, but by an entire community of which he was very much at the centre. Jimmy drowned in Lake Malawi on 12 July in a tragic accident where he gave his life to help to save others from drowning, and we are devastated to lose him.

At just 29 years old, Jimmy leaves behind his wife Ellen and three young children, Jimmy, Eric, and Jane Donna. Jimmy was the sole provider for his family, and we want to ensure that the people he loved are taken care of for the foreseeable future. We are appealing for donations to create a sizeable fund which we can use to continue to pay a monthly amount to his family for a number of years. If you loved Jimmy and were touched by who he was and all that he did for others, please consider making a donation to support his family.
