Story
I have agreed to run the New York City Marathon on 5th November this year. No, I haven't done one before, in fact I only did my first half-marathon in April.
Knowing my age, the kind-hearted worry about my physical chances; others merely question my sanity. Yet, notwithstanding the date, I am not superstitious and don't think that I have lost the plot just yet. But I do accept that the psychological chances of success are greatly enhanced knowing that by completing the course, a deserving cause will benefit. This is where you come in!
If on a personal or corporate basis, maybe even both, you could see your way to sponsoring me, I would be very grateful - so will many disabled children and young people.
I shall be running for Get Kids Going, a national charity that enables young disabled people to compete by supporting them in their sports - training, physiotherapy, travel, design and development of specialist equipment - all manner of things. The smallest donation can make an enormous difference, giving disabled youngsters chances that you and I most likely take for granted. Together, we can really help - buying a sports wheelchair for example. They cost £3,000 each.
It is a call on your generosity, but please respond positively. I am happy to put in as many hours training as it takes to complete the course, so do please take a few minutes to make a donation. It will count for a lot in terms of helping Getting Kids Going - and it will encourage me enormously to make it to the finishing post.
Thank you so very much.
