Story
After some GNR warm ups, my knees and I have decided to have a go at a first and last London marathon. It conserves energy to start on your doorstep, but took a while to get into the hardest category, "middle aged and past it". With less than a week to go, most of the hard yards have taken their toll since jan. More clement weather in April has helped the long weekend run, unlike getting up at 5.30 to eat porridge. Weekly mileage peaked at 40, knees straining, started to taper! Last 16 miler was 10 days ago, recovery slow. No forecasts on time, although one kind soul has offered a material incentive to beat 3.20!
Early, cold mornings however are nothing compared to living with Cancer. As we all age we come into more contact with it, so I wanted to help those who can provide enormous support if you need it. Cancerbackup merged with Macmillan and can reach many more of those who are affected,so please be generous with your encouragement to me and them. Thanks for your incentive, Jim
