My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

As most of you probably know, my dad died from a brain tumour just over two years ago, only a year after this photo was taken. What you might not know is that I found out last October that I had breast cancer. Luckily, I found it early and with fantastic medical care I believe I am now cancer free.

I've completed the Etape du Tour for the last two years. This is a stage of the current year’s Tour De France, which is opened up to amateur cyclists. The route changes each year but is always gruelling and requires months of training. This year the stage has 6 climbs; the final one being Mont Ventoux which is 21.4km, 1600m of ascent and an average gradient of 7.5%. It is one of the most difficult climbs in the Alps. So, having been sure after last year’s 9 hour epic in driving freezing rain (July in the Pyrennes) that I wouldn't compete in 2009, I have agreed to enter one more Etape, with the sole aim of raising money for Cancer Research.

I have decided to raise money for research into cures for both brain tumours and breast cancer.
