Kilimanjaro Summit Climb - Lemosho Route 13th June 2012 · 13 June 2012 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

I will eventually reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at 5895m - one of the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.

Alzheimer's Society

As some of you are aware, my grandmother has Alzheimer's disease and I have always wanted to support the Alzheimer's Society. Being so close to my heart my aim is simple, raise money to fund research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of dementia.

Alzheimer's Society is a membership organisation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Society provides reliable and up to date information to help you with every aspect of living with dementia: from understanding diagnosis and assessment to dealing with the financial challenges you may encounter.

Every year they invest around £2 million into research programmes. This money funds important research that will help us to improve the quality of life for people with dementia, by tackling questions related to the causes of dementia, investigating good practice in care and treatment, and pursuing a cure.

The Target

My fundraising target is to reach £2700 before I undertake the challenge in June. Whether you decide to donate £1, £5 or £10, you should know that your money is helping the charity continue providing information and researching the disease!

Thank you!

I would just like to say thank you so much for visiting my page. All donations of support are greatly appreciated and every little helps. While the challenge is physically challenging, I can't wait to start. I will return with some fantastic photos of the summit view to share with you all!

Thank you, JLB.
