Race report: Well its over now and I got there in the end! Despite taking it fairly easy because of the weather, my right hamstring decided it wasn't having much fun from about mile 16 onwards, so really struggled until about 2 miles from the finish when I managed to pick it up again and run to the finish line. Thanks again to all my supporters both on the course and those who have so generously sponsored me.
I am running the London Marathon as part of what I am doing to show my love and support for my father-in-law who is very ill as a result of contracting prostate cancer. He's not alone in this; indeed one man in eleven in this country ends up being diagnosed with this disease.
I wanted to do what I could, so have agreed to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity which supports people with the disease as well as sponsoring research into its causes.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please, if you can, sponsor me now!
Opa this one's for you
Love
Jon
