Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

To Update:

The 25th Oct was a beautiful sunny day, in contrast to previous years, even caught the sun! There was a great carnival atmosphere, and lots of really inspirational and/or fun runners and charities present!

Rich and the children were fantastic showing up at the race side at various points and cheering me on. I ran with several friends from the running group. Really enjoyed miles 3-9, but the last mile was hard work into the wind. Finished in 1hr 48 mins and 51sec!!! Faster than I anticipated and mainly due to trying to keep up with my running buddies who just kept talking all the way round! I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Thanks to so many who have donated already, wanted to let you all know how it went,

Best wishes

Jo

Our son Jeff attends the Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education.

It is a centre aiming to help children with cerebral palsy to learn new mobility skills and develop greater independence. We find it a useful addition to Jeff's NHS Physio and Occupational therapy. The Rainbow staff liaise with the NHS and school staff. They have high expectations of what Jeff can achieve and have the time, patience and experience to help him develop the strength and 'knack' of doing tasks that are difficult for him, e.g. walking, picking something up off the floor, taking off his shoes or putting on his own coat. He started going aged two and still attends one afternoon per week, age 8! Our aim is to enable him to join in with all aspects of life as far as possible!

Picture taken on disused tramway path up from the Honister Pass in the Lake District. We used a buggy board, frame and walking poles to get there!

I have been wanting to raise money for the Rainbow Centre for sometime, and have been training for months. Many thanks to the Sat am ladies 'run and chat' group  who have kept me at it, and Rich who has looked after the children while I've been out pounding the pavement!
