Story
Hello and welcome to my JustGiving page!
This is my first time doing some proper fundraising! And I don't do things by halves. My efforts are dedicated to Leuka who are looking after my friend and co-worker Michelle Richards. While she is just starting a 6 month battle of aggressive chemotherapy, I will battle approximately 400 miles of road in August 2014. That's over twice the longest distance I have ever cycled consecutively in my life. It will take me 6 days. I am doing this because it is my way of trying to help Michelle and her family, and others who are suffering.
I wrote that introduction back in June. Now it is August and I regret to say that Michelle Richards sadly passed away 4 weeks ago on the 22nd July 2014. I haven't been able to announce it before today because it was too difficult to share my shattered hopes of helping her. I was doing this challenge especially for her and then she was gone. I wasn't prepared for that. And the wind had gone from my sails with regards to this challenge. But a couple of days ago, I was inadvertently reminded that it was one of Michelle's dreams to help find a cure for blood cancer. It really was! I have seen all the fundraising she did and heard how much she loved Leuka. So if I am capable of making even a little bit of an impact to help carry out her wishes, I will. This one is for you Michelle. Full steam ahead.
