It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I'll be doing this run is in memory of my dad, Norman, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2005 and passed away in January 2007. We were lucky to have more than a year with him from the time he was diagnosed but most others aren't so lucky.

Pancreatic cancer is a very aggressive form of cancer and is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in Europe and USA. The symptoms are often missed in the early stages and it usually too late to do anything by the time it is found.

Of the 7000 people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year in the UK, most will survive just four to six months. The five year survival rate is less than 3%. The final stages of this disease are very unpleasant, and from what I saw, it very much seems to be a case of the patient literally rotting away on the inside.

I hope you'll help support Pancreatic Cancer Research UK in their mission to raise awareness of this cancer and support research to combat it.

Many thanks for your support.

Jo
