About my charity
:
Health Unlimited
Health Unlimited works in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We always prioritise the most poor and the most marginalised. This has led us to work in some very difficult environments, often providing the only external support.
Our comprehensive approach not only improves health services, but also addresses factors such as nutrition, water, sanitation, and income generation, sometimes with a particular focus on safer motherhood, and the health of children and young people. We also help prevent life-threatening diseases such as HIV, TB, malaria and incidences of diarrhoea and other dangerous infections. More recently, campaigning and advocacy have become increasingly important, so we can help improve the health of poor and marginalised people everywhere, not just where we have programmes.
For individual mothers, fathers, friends and children, all these things can mean the difference between grief and loss, or lives spent sharing, experiencing and growing old together.
Health Unlimited’s community health programmes currently serve approximately 4 million people each year (including 3.2 million indigenous people), and 14.2 million more benefit annually from our award-winning ‘edutainment’ radio soaps.
To those who support our work – thank you. We believe passionately in its value, and it is possible because of you.

| My personal message: |
I DID IT! Despite spending the best part of a week in bed with bronchitis, and torrential rain and hail on the day, I managed to run every mile of the marathon. I finished in 4 hours 47 minutes, 24 minutes faster than last year so I am really pleased. Thank you to everyone who supported me, it meant so much knowing you were all behind me. This year I am raising money for Heath Unlimited, this is a brilliant charity that works in Africa, Asia and Latin America to improve the health of communities in remote areas that receive little help from their governments because they are considered too expensive to reach. They aim for a long term improvement in health care by investing in the potential of local people to take control of their own health. This is achieved by training local people to become health care workers, providing health education programs to increase awareness of common health problems, and working with communities, health service providers and policy makers to secure access to effective primary health care. They also equip remote communities with wells to provide clean water, and build health centres and hospitals. I hope you'll agree that this is a very worthy charity. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Health Unlimited will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
