In 2008 our beautiful baby boy was born with congenital heart disease. He has been undergoing treatment for the condition and will continue to have treatment for the rest of his life. His treatment takes place at Leeds General Infirmary in the Yorkshire Heart Centre, where he is looked after by all the fantastic staff there. The Children's Heart Surgery Fund, based at the Yorkshire Heart Centre, does valuable fundraising for the ward and the families that spend time there. The CHSF funds valuable equipment, resources and research for the treatment of children with heart defects and provides a happy and relaxed atmosphere within the hospital for both the children and their families. This charity is, for obvious reasons, one that is close to our hearts, and one that we believe to be truely deserving of the funding it receives.
TLS Vehicle Rental, Leeds (where Dave works) are organising a sponsored abseil event at Baitings Dam for The Childrens Heart Surgery Fund on Sunday 24th May 2009, to raise money for the charity to enable them to fund more vital equipment. They have kindly agreed that I can join them for the day, and so we will be jumping almost 197ft off Baitings Dam, with only a cable to secure us!
