Hi my name is Jo and I am running the London Marathon in aid of the Special Care Baby Unit at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, Kent.
My friend had a little boy called Harry who was born 16 weeks early at 24 weeks weighing just 1lb 8oz. Harry was given only a 10% chance of survival.
Harry came home at 101 days old weighing a very little 3lb 13oz and his stay cost approx £125,000. Harry is one of the lucky ones and would probably not be here today if it were not for the dedication and support of the Special Care Nursing staff. This is why I am running for this great cause. Please help me raise as much money as possible to help all of the children in the area that may have to spend their first days in the NICU.
If you would like to take a look at what these special people do then you can go to the Youtube site and look up premature baby Harry and see a short video clip of his days in the NICU.
Thank you for all your support and I will let you know how I get on.
Jo
