My story

 

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  Those of you who know me personally will be aware that I am a fan of the three R’s.  Reading, Retail and Running.

Up until three years ago, with the exception of my twice weekly Pilates sessions, cardio exercise was something which was alien to me  However encouraged by my Husband Iain, who at that time was training for his first London Marathon, I joined a gym and became hooked on exercise and in particular running. Once I had built up my stamina in the gym I began pounding the streets and very soon 5am runs became part of my regular routine.

Inspired by Iain’s very respectable Marathon performance in 2005 it became an ambition of mine to run the London Marathon before I was 40.  Unfortunately, I was thwarted by two unsuccessful applications in the ballot, and following my 40th Birthday earlier this year I became more determined than ever.

I have now been offered a Golden Bond Marathon Entry by the BREAK Charity who coincidentally are also celebrating their 40th Birthday this year. For those of you that aren’t aware BREAK provides a range of services for children, adults and families in need. These services include: Homes for Children and Young Adults, Supported Holidays and Respite Care, Assessments for Families in Crisis, Mental Health Services for Women, Day Support Services for Adults with Learning Disabilities and Mentoring Schemes for Young People.  I am delighted to be running on behalf of BREAK and to help me get through the next few months of dark, cold 5 am winter morning starts I would really love you to sponsor me as I would like to raise as much money as I can to support this very worthy cause.
