Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

After the success of our 100 mile walk eating nothing but dog food last year, Jack and I are going even further for our favourite charity in 2007 - we're going to be rowing (well floating!) a giant dog bowl 150 miles down the length of the Thames!

I've named the dog bowl 'The Mutty Bark' in honour of the recently damaged 'Cutty Sark', and we're setting off on the 2nd of July from Cricklade in Gloucestershire and hope to reach Putney in London 10 days later. Along the way we're going to stopping off in lots of towns including Oxford and Reading - and plan to make a bit of a spectacle of ourselves going through Henley in the middle of the Regatta! You'll find all the details of where we'll be on my website www.joeandjacks.co.uk and you can also be able to follow our progress via my video diary at http://www.petskitchen.co.uk/joes-diary.asp

As last year, we're raising money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, who are a wonderful charity helping people and dogs by training unwanted dogs as invaluable assistance partners for people with impaired hearing. To find out more visit their website www.hearingdogs.org.uk
