Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

What am I doing?

Why, I am growing a big bushy beard - perhaps not obvious today, but it will be soon.

Why?

To raise funds for Mencap, you can either donate immediately or finish reading this sentence and then donate, it is totally up to you!

I also see this beard growing competition as a social experiment - I will hopefully be able to chart my experiences as a bearded gentleman and monitor peoples changing reactions to my changing face to determine once and for all what length of facial hair is the best?

See my progress at http://growing4gold.blogspot.com/

Update - To compete with the fundraising efforts of Michael Naidu (http://www.justgiving.com/returnofthebeard) I am also offering a photo of me for high donations.  You have a choice of  1) me naked covering my shame with a teapot, 2) me covered in kittens or 3) me stroking a little pony.  I may be able to accomodate requests. Any donation of over £5.00 can recieve the photographic gift of your choice.

£30.00 will reserve you a copy of Joe Hamiltons 2009 calendar featuring 12 months of pictures of me stroking cute animals or hiding my genitals behind kitchen utensils!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
