Hiya, as most of you must know by now i'm running the Dublin Marathon on the 31oct (26.2 miles) For those who are local its like running From Perran to Penzance or St Ives, basically its a bloody long way. Not really a keen runner but thought it would be a really good experience and chance to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Dementia statistics

No one affected by dementia will ever be just a statistic. But the facts and figures about the impact of Alzheimer’s and other dementias make sobering reading.

Dementia affects 820,000 people in the UK. 25 million of the UK population have a close friend or family member with dementia. As well as the huge personal cost, dementia costs the UK economy £23 billion a year, more than cancer and heart disease combined. Despite these figures, dementia research is desperately underfunded.
