Its the time of year again where I don my trainers and hit the road.... HARD, all in the name of charity.
As you may already know, my fiancee Kate Martin passed away in March
2008 after a battle with skin cancer. She was well looked after
throughout her illness by the fantastic people at St Peter and St James
Hospice. The Hospice is based in West Sussex, and requires £3300 of charitable donations per day, just to stay open, and continue the excellent work they provide there.
Kate was taken from us in such cruel circumstances. She died just weeks before our planned wedding day, but all the way through her illness she showed the strength, courage and determination that made her the remarkable woman I fell in love with. Not a day goes by when she is not missed by myself, her family and her friends, and to be able to do just a little bit to help the charity who looked after her with such steadfast care is the very least that any of us could do.
I will be running the London Marathon for the second year, having raised £6000 in 2009, thanks to the generous donations made largely through the Justgiving website.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
