My story

About The Paddle The paddle for life started after Lifeguards from Fistral beach held a “Joe Way memorial paddle” to raise money for the Precious Lives Appeal to build a children’s hospice in Cornwall in memory of Newquay toddler Joe Way.

The great thing about the Paddle for Life is anyone can set up a paddle

The Paddle for Life is an open charity event

We would like your organization or charity to take part or hold a paddle.

The great thing about the Paddle for Life is anyone can set up a paddle.  Chose your own charity or raise money for your club or school by signing up with us and holding a Paddle.

If your land locked you can use a swimming pool, river or lake.

Event organisers must ensure permissions are given and insurance is in place if required.

Read our Get Involved page for details of how you can help raise money for your nominated charity.

The building has been designed to reinforce its local connections, and plans are now with Restormel Borough Council.

It will have a slate roof, Cornish stone walls and a tower reminiscent of the lighthouses around the county's coastline.

The building has special children's bedrooms; accommodation for parents and siblings; a wide range of play and therapy facilities including a messy play area, jacuzzi and a multi-sensory room and a homely family kitchen and living room.

Like its name, Little Harbour will be a home-from-home, where life-limited children from Cornwall and Plymouth will be cared for and protected.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospice South West gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
