When two University Boat Club members and close friends found themselves wanting of a challenge after a summer of working anti-social hours and late into the night, they somehow struck upon the bright idea of cycling the length of the country.
Both having recently spent a small fortune between them on their two-wheeled friends, and after a little online research and much inspiration, they decided to start at the most North-Easterly point of the British Isles, John O'Groats in Scotland (and hence to be know as the JOG ON LADS) and finish at the most South-Westerly, Lands Ends in Cornwall, a distance of 874 miles as the crow flies.
Being proud Southerners it made sense to them to start at the top and work their way down, so they would not only finish up at the 'right' end of the country, but in cycling south it would of course be downhill all the way!
Our 'little' adventure (starting on the 1st September) will take us on a journey of approximately 1000 miles over 14 days (so it's probably not best advised to sponsor us 'a pound a mile' - no matter how much we'd like you to).
We thought we'd spare you the gory details and emotional blackmail regarding the choice of our chosen charity. Needless to say, everyone is affected by cancer at some point in their lives and both of us (Ben and Andrew) have first-hand experience of friends and family who have suffered from cancer recently.
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
