East Lancashire Hospice offer palliative care to patients with advanced and progressive life threatening disease, particularly those suffering from cancer, and support for their relatives and carers in an atmosphere of calm with tenderness, care and quiet efficiency.

The hospice is the main specialist palliative care unit for the communities of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley, serving a population of some 385,000.

To find out more about this great charity and their work you can view there webpage at http://www.eastlancashirehospice.co.uk/

Let me explain a little bit more about the gargantuan task ahead, the challenge was set and accepted without much hesitation and even less thought. Reality began to sink in for the both of us whilst we were sat in the comfort of our motor vehicles driving 50 miles +. Even this took over an hour with the aid of an engine and the simpleness of "putting your foot down".

The JOGLE, John O'Groats to Lands End, Bike Ride is a staggering 1066 miles to be completed in 14 days, this requires us to travel 70-75 miles a day, every day through pedal power alone. Training is going well but the most we've done is 72 miles in 1 day and we had a good rest the next day. We have been tackling Pendle hill on a regular basis which has helped build up the muscles quicker, the training alone is worth sponsoring.

We will be using this page to keep you updated with our training and any plans we make, if anybody would like to join us on the ride then they can gladly do so as long as they are commited and serious.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this page, please spread the word about this great cause.
