Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

Hello,

I've just entered this and will be running for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund with all my girly might.

I wasn't going to do it at all but the following news has changed my mind.

My gran died of the disease and my wonderful uncle Andy has just been diagnosed with it. It's spread to his liver already so his prognosis isn't great.

If anyone would like to join me in running or sponsor me for either the memory or support of a kind, supportive and totally brilliant man then please do.

Each year, around 7,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and there are more than 6,600 deaths. It affects men and women in roughly equal proportions. This type of cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in the UK, and has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – approximately 3% of those diagnosed survive five years or more. There is no early detection test, treatment is limited and there is no cure. Because symptoms generally do not appear until the disease is well advanced, the average survival time after diagnosis is just six months.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Many thanks x
