Bupa Great North Run 2014 · 7 September 2014 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you know I had a quadruple heart bypass two years ago. Fortunately I made a very good recovery!!
However this is not my only connection with heart disease, which is the UK's number one killer.
My brother also had a similar operation about 12 years ago, he too is stil going strong :-)  However, 25 years ago, I lost my father to the disease and his two brothers died the same way. Had today's procedures been available then, I am sure they would have lived much longer.
The research and development in surgical procedures which and being carried out today will help to give longer healthier lives to many more people and ensure that our families and loved ones do not have to suffer the same way.
So this is why I am running the Great North Run this year as part of the British Heart Foundation's "Heart Runners" team.
I have pledged to raise a minimum £500 sponsorship. Please help me by donating whatever you can to this very worthwhile cause.
Thank you
