Jenny Lind Children's Hospital has been helping babies, children and young people of Norfolk for over 165 years.

Story

Alexander was admitted to the Children's Assessment Unit due to
failure to thrive at 6 weeks, for which he had multiple tests and an admission to the children’s ward. He has remained under the care of a paediatrician due to a diagnosis of 22q11.2 micro-duplication which causes a wide variety of issues, both physically, developmentally and cognitively. Alexander is known to have ptosis, failure to thrive, feeding issues, severe
reflux and is being investigated for velopharyngeal insufficiency as well as having to have his hearing and sight monitored. He is being cared for by not only many doctors and
nurses but also dieticians and Speech and Language Therapists. Alexander will remain under the care of multiple teams at Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital for the foreseeable future.

I am John Williams, I am a serving soldier of 12 years. I am married to Emma, who is a nurse at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), and have two wonderful boys.

With the support of my Regiment I have planned this event and it was decided that we would use it as a platform to raise money. We decided to raise money for Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital,
NNUH as a way to thank them for all the ongoing
care and support they have provided to my son, Alexander.

They have not only cared for Alexander, but their staff have
been an invaluable support for us as a family during this challenging time.
