Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

Sparks raises money to fund pioneering child health research across the UK, helping to find new treatments and cures for children and families who desperately need them.

Story

I have decided to run this year's marathon in support of George's Appeal - this is an appeal under the umbrella of the SPARKS charity raising money for research in neuroblastoma. All money raised from this appeal will go go research projects in neuroblastoma following independent scientific review of grant proposals. George was one of our patients in oncology at Great Ormond Street - you can read more about his story at the following website www.georgesappeal.org.uk

I am training hard and hope to break my previous PB of 3 hrs 38 mins! See update below!

Thank you for all your ongoing support

Update on 24th April! John's running number is 2725 - however I cannot find anywhere on the VLM site that lets you track your runner like last year - if you can see how to do it, please text me!!

Despite struggling with a medial ligament problem for last 10 days, John is upbeat and looking forward to tomorrow - went to the Expo to collect his number etc today and had a massage and multiple persons giving varying advice re how to cope with medial ligament sprain! Best just run on through, I say, but there you go.

Thank you all once again for all your support, and great news that so much money has been raised for George's Appeal for Sparks. Alison.

PS I will let you know how he gets on.

VLM 2010: John has completed his 4th marathon! He came in at 3 hrs 40 mins and 13 secs, just about 90 secs outside his PB - but found it much harder going than last year, mainly because the knee problem kicked in at about 16 miles and made the last bit quite a struggle. ( amazingly, he doesn't usually find it as difficult as some of us..........)

Thank you all for all your support and we are delighted to have raised well over £2000 including the Gift Aid. for George's Appeal.
