My story

Hi, I'm John Barrell ,thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Many people  who are familiar with Kisharon may be unaware of the development  of the services and support they have been offering  the community for the past 32 years.

Kisharon's  services  may begin for its service users at a very early age and continue throughout  the persons life. It has one of the oldest Downs Syndrom's in the country. From the Tufkid Nursery , through to the School, then the College, after which  there are a variety  of options such as the Asher Loftus Business Enterprise teaching  bookbinding, woodwork, invitation card design and printing. There's also BusStop Bikes which  both sell and maintain bikes up to a high standard. These are all underpinned with a very strong sense of Jewish values and identity . It's wonderful to see a bar or bat mitzvah ceremony take place, or a syum for mishnayos take place.

Communal Inclusiveness is a cornerstone of the philosophy behind Kisharon.

The Hannah  Schwalby  Residential Home  provides a warm family atmosphere.  The  Assisted Living Projects exist for those who have developed to a more independant level of needswith support. There are  also both male and female Day care units in Stamford Hill (in which  I work in as a tutor) where such activities such  as swimming, horse riding , bowling, museum trips, gardening, car washing, canoeing, woodwork, first aid as well as cooking take place. Boy, do we enjoy  our cooking!

The female unit provides a communal toy library.

So please give generously to this, whahas accurately  been described as

'the crown in the community' .
