On 5 October I will be taking part in the BUPA Great North Run to raise funds for Vision Aid Overseas. I can assure you that I would not be embarking on such a foolhardy venture were it not for a really good cause. VAO is a charity which sends teams of volunteer optometrists and dispensing opticians to developing countries to set up clinics, carry out sight tests and provide spectacles. As a direct result of VAO's activities, over 500,000 visually impaired people are able to learn and earn a living - achieving a quality of life otherwise unobtainable. My wife Caroline is a regular participant in VAO projects and has recently returned from leading a team to Ethiopia. By entering the Great North Run I hope to make my own contribution, raising much-needed funds through your sponsorship. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Vision Aid Overseas gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks for taking an interest and please sponsor me if you can.
