Story
Hey,
Bad news I'm afraid - I've had to withdraw from the race before the start because of a knee injury: I injured my left knee several weeks ago, and despite my best efforts to sort it out in time its been preventing me from running more than about 2 miles before my left leg basically packs up.
I can't describe to you how frustrating this has been - i'd been looking forward to this race since July and am absolutely gutted that I can't run it. What makes things more annoying is that i'd actually run the 13 miles during training before my knee injury so I know that I can do the distance.
Anyway I don't want the people who have sponsored me to feel cheated, so I'm going to hold this page open until my knee is better and then sign up for another race.
John
Hey guys,
I'm going to attempt to run the Cardiff Half Marathon (that's 13 big ones) in October, and would be tres grateful if you could sponsor me.
I'm raising money for a charity called Children of the Andes. COTA are a UK registered charity that works with local NGOs in Colombia to support children who live on the streets and in the sewers. Colombia has had more than its fair share of poverty and conflict, and its a country close to my heart as almost all of my relatives live there. For more info about the charity please visit http://www.childrenoftheandes.org
You'll all know that I'm not the world's most athletic person - I was already bottom set in P.E. in school, before I discovered ale - so I'm not quite the specimen that i'd like. So with this in mind please be generous. 13 miles is quite a long way.
Big love,
John
