Forest of Dean Half Marathon 2011 · 27 March 2011 ·

Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

On Sunday 27th March, I ran the Forest of Dean Half Marathon with a colleague (Mark), my brother-in-law (Julian) and my nephew (Robin). I completed the course in 1h49 which was faster than I expected given the amount of training I had done. In fact, I feel inclined to do another one this spring - though flatter if possible.

On my training runs I sometimes run past the Worcester Acorn's Childrens Hospice, which cares for children and their families. I thought that it would be great to raise some money to support their work.

So many thanks to all of you who have given generously. You are welcome to add to the number if you would like to. It is all in a good cause!

Thank you.

John
