Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
This will be the 5th walk/trek I'll have done to raise funds for the MS Society and the 3rd time I'll have used justgiving.com. Unfortunately, a cure for MS has yet to be found and my wife just gets worse and worse, so I have to soldier on.
I'll be 64 by the time October comes round and I have to be realistic - this is probably one of my last opportunities to do something like this so I've decided to go out with a bang.
The illness is obviously a physical one but the psychological scars go deep as well. I read somewhere the other day that the suicide rate among MS sufferers is 7 times the national average. I know of at least 2 people who decided they'd had enough plus another who decided he didn't want antibiotics and would they take the oxygen mask off, please?
We have to remain positive however and, rather than thinking that there is no cure for MS, I prefer the view that says there is a cure - it's just that no-one's found it yet.
Anything you are able to give will be very gratefully received and, whatever the use to which your particular donation is put, you will have made a positive contribution towards ridding the world of a terrible scourge.
Thank you on behalf of my wife and MS sufferers everywhere.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain & Northern Ireland gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
