Hi! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page...
Now I fully appreciate that most of the time fundraisers ask for money in return for participating in some 'foolish' event, that they signed up to in an moment of madness.
This year, I would like to try and stake a genuine claim to this!
In March 2012 I will be running the Marathon Des Sables in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research.
For those of you who don't know, the race is labelled; 'the toughest footrace on earth,' and apparently, primarily for lunatics and masochists. Being neither of these (and probably not particularly good at endurance), I am really genuinely concerned for my safety.
So how does it work? The race is a terrifying 6 day/151 mile endurance race across the Sahara Desert. Midday temperatures frequently reach 120 F and you have to carry and prepare all of your own food/tent/clothes.
One poor chap a couple of years ago got lost in the desert for nearly two weeks and was finally found near death and delirious after surviving on bugs and his own urine. Fingers Crossed!
I really am very scared and I know I am always asking for sponsorship, but I really think this time I may just deserve it:)
What's more, I am raising money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. A fantastic charity that I would love, with your help, to raise as much money as possible for.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks so much!!
John
