Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I chose the RNLI as my charity this year as they do an amazing job saving thousands of lives at sea in the UK. They also do emergency work during floods and promote safety and survival internationally. Check out www.rnli.org for more details.
Another big factor in doing this for the RNLI was the tragic death of Jonathan Joyce in June this year. Jonathan got into trouble while swimming off the South Devon Coast. He was a legendary open water swimmer and an inspiration to many including myself. Jonathan's family have suggested the RNLI as a suitable charity to support in remembrance of him.
I swam the Hellespont Strait in Turkey, from Europe to Asia, last year in aid of Clic Sargent, the Children's Cancer Charity. That was a mission, (and utterly terrifying in parts!). The Dart 10k is a longer, (and much colder), swim but hopefully should feel a little less scary. I have been training in earnest for the swim and estaimate I have probably put in about 150 training miles in the pool, lakes and sea already this year. that's got to be worth a quid or two from you???
