Venture Scotland runs a unique progressive outdoor-based personal development programme over 5 months for young people aged 16-30, who face complex and difficult problems daily. We build their confidence and skills to empower each of them to reduce harmful behaviours and make positive choices.

Story

So by now most of you know what I'm like, I'm that happy guy that heads off on random adventures at the drop of a hat typically ending up muddy, wet ,slightly broken and often with a big grim on my face. Thus having returned back to Edinburgh this year the adventures are slightly closer to home with four challenges on behalf of four good causes with sponsorship money being spilt equally between them and friends joining me along the way.

17th & 18th July – A two day 50 mile team canoe challenge down the Clyde on behalf of Venture Scotland supported by Adam McFarlane and Abby Boultbee.

4th September – The classic 25 mile walk in 12 hours through the Yorkshire Dales going up and over the three highest peaks of Penyghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). Thats a long way that includes an awful lot of climbing and an awful lot of descending but with Neil Hullah, Neil Holloway and David Philpott with me it should be in the bag on behalf of the Annabelle Rose Trust.

12th September – The pedal like mad challenge of a 51 mile bike journey from Glasgow to Edinburgh in one day with Euan Cockburn and Claire Goodsell on behalf of Barnardos.

17th October - The final gut busting leg with entry into the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest 2010 a challenging 10km route with tough and engaging obstacles every kilometre, pitting my wits against 1000s of fellow "Survival" competitors in a test of stamina, grit, speed and guts. Possibly the UK's toughest obstacle course on behalf of Broughton Rugby Team.

So if you'll consider supporting this madness and fun add any money you can spare and I'll try my best to complete every challenge to the best of my ability and makes sure that the four good causes benefit to the max.

Yours
