Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page. Hope Worldwide is an amazing charity well worth running a marathon for. I hope the illustration below will help you understand what makes this charity special: “Hello this is Mary from Hope Worldwide, we have someone on our “Two-Step” programme who is currently sleeping on the streets his name is Joe and he needs a place to stay for the next two nights until we can find him more permanent accommodation. Would he be able to stay with you? As stop-over volunteers my flatmates and I would often receive a call like this from a Hope Worldwide representative asking if we could give a homeless person a place to stay in our flat for a night or two. A stop-over host is a volunteer who opens up their home to take in a homeless person on Hope’s Two-Step programme. I was a stop-over host myself for two years. It was a special time because I saw the effectiveness of Hope’s programme and the impact this human touch can have on a person facing the challenge of being homeless in a City like London. Some of the people I met had ended up homeless through a series of unfortunate circumstances such as a marriage breakdown, a teenage runaway or a personal tragedy. It’s frightening how quickly someone can become homeless in London. Two-Step is one of a number of programmes Hope Worldwide runs in the UK. The others include One-Day-At-A-Time (ODAAT); a peer-based drug and alcohol rehabilitation programme and Moving On; a mentoring programme to offer on-going support to people who have been through Two-Step or ODAAT. As such Hope Worldwide UK provides a holistic approach to help people facing some of the most challenging circumstances in our society. Internationally Hope Worldwide runs a number of programmes helping some of the most socially excluded communities across the world. The programmes range from a free, 24-Hour medical centre in Cambodia, to orphanages and adoption projects in Romania and India. I could share a thousand reasons why it is great to give to Hope Worldwide, but the most important reason is that people’s lives are being transformed through their work. These thoughts will keep me going when I run the Berlin marathon on Sunday the 28th of September. My goal is to complete the marathon in under 3 Hours 30mins and raise £1000+ for Hope Worldwide in the process. If you want to find out more about their programmes visit their website www.hopeworldwide.org.uk in the meantime please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: HOPE worldwide will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please be generous! Many thanks for your support. John Perez
