Story
Hi all,
Between midnight on the 28th June 2009 and midnight on the 25th July 2009 it is my intention to refrain from drinking any alcoholic beverages whatsoever in order to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
All of you who know me will realise what a huge undertaking this will be and I hope you can sponsor me.
I wanted to do something easy like climb Everest or row across the Atlantic but I needed a real challenge!
On a serious note it pales into insignificance compared to the sacrifices our servicemen and women have made.
The reason people give money to Help for Heroes is to make a real difference to the lives of our wounded servicemen and women.
What is HELP for HEROES all about?
“It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes.”
We want to help our heroes don’t we?
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me:
Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me
I want to thank you in advance of your donations and look forward to reading the sarcastic banter in the comments box!
Thanks
John
