Thanks for taking the time to visit ourJustGiving page.
If you are on this page it is because you know at least one of us - that means you know how ridiculous the idea of us cycling the Nile is - but we're going to give it a go anyway!
We will be updating this page with training photos and blogs, there's just the small matter of one of us not owning a bike yet!
Every penny counts and we really do appreciate it!
The cycle itself is 414km over 5 days along the River Nile and if you want more information the link is here:

After a slow start (4 times out) and problems with a borrowed bike I bought a new bike and promptly entered myself into the Wirral Bikeathon where I could do either 14 or 28 miles. The first 7 miles were torture and I really didn't think I would make the remaining 7 miles back to HQ but - I did and then thought in for a penny..... I completed the 28 miles and was exhilerated with my achievement taking into account that I'd not ridden a bike for about 10 years! I nearly forgot to mention that when I arrived home I did sit down on my settee and promply fell asleep for 2 hours! I'm now in week 8 of my training programme and after a few weekend 30 milers, and a couple of lunch hours a week of between 8 and 12 miles, I knew that last weekend I had a target of between 30-40 miles, so on Friday I had a couple of G&Ts and a very early night! Saturday morning the heavens opened but thankfully it cleared up in the afternoon and as I had plans for the Sunday I had no choice and bit the bullet! After 29 miles I had to stop for a break.........and 15 minutes later cycled the remaining 14 miles home - grand total 43 miles and I can tell you now that the early night was worth it - A-MA-ZING! Oh ye - as it'd been raining and my route was "off-road" puddles were evident everywhere and I arrived home covered in mud-splatter from head to toe - wish I'd taken a pic but there's still time for that. Having done this though I now actually feel like this challenge is doable! My targets for the next 2 weekends are 20-25 miles and as I will be at the Italian GP on one of them so I may have a problem - unless I can find one of the Italian Tifosi (fans - GP joke!) who'll loan me a bike for a couple of hours. After that it starts to get serious and my weekend ride will be 40-50 miles and only increasing until the week before we go. I've also entered myself into the Cycletta @ Tatton Park 40km (25 miles) on 2nd October and as that's only half of my training for that weekend it looks like I may have to come home and do another 25 miles. Despite everything and the fact that I have actually put on 1kg in weight it's worth it and if any of you guys out there don't think you can do it - then think again - if I can - anyone can. Hopefully I'll be able to make shorter and regular updates in future - if I'm not in A&E that is...........
